Meet Natalie Kolosieke ’21, a scholarship recipient from Greensboro, NC. She shares her thoughts…and thanks…for alumni gifts that brought her to Hood College.

What is significant to you about attending Hood?
I feel like I won the lottery a million times just to get here. First, I live in a country where women can be educated in a field of their choice, and where there are colleges like Hood. Then I received a full tuition scholarships – and without it, I would not have gone to my first-choice school.

Why do you love studying Economics?
I love the study of choices. It relates to absolutely everything. It’s like a real world philosophy course.

How do you give back to the College?
I am a Blazer Ambassador! I give tours and work at open houses. This allows me to share my excitement about Hood with others, and helps me earn money toward my education and living expenses.

If you could ask Hood alumni to give back to Hood College, what would you say?
I would ask them to think about their own achievements, and then offer a gift that allows us to follow in their footsteps. I would also remind myself what it is like to be a ‘broke’ college student, where even a fast food meal is a special treat…and then I would donate an amount worth a few fast food meals!
