Hood Equestrian Team Makes History

Two members of the Hood College equestrian team competed at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone Finals at the University of Mary Washington April 9. The Blazers competed against schools including Duke University, Bridgewater College, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Goucher College.

Junior Jessy Burke, from Monrovia, Md., made history by being the first member in Hood College equestrian program history to make it to nationals. She placed second in her intermediate over fences class, which sealed her ticket to the IHSA National Championships in Lexington, Ky, the first week of May.

Senior Leah Hull, from Fairfield, Pa., competed in walk trot and placed a respectable fifth. Hull, during the season, placed first or second at every show she competed in at the class level walk, trot.
