Hood College and Frederick Memorial Hospital are partnering on a resource garden to grow produce for local Frederick families, veterans and senior citizens in need.
The groundbreaking for the garden was held April 19 at the corner of Park Avenue and Hood Alley. There are 14 small sub-plots in the garden, equally split between Hood and FMH, and a pollinator strip of native flowers. Hood College Alumni have banded together to cultivate one of the plots. Please contact Ashley Rose Bennett ’14 to get involved.
Attending the ceremony were Hood College President Andrea Chapdelaine and FMH Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John Verbus and several Frederick nonprofit representatives, including Frederick Master Gardeners, Frederick Beekeepers Association, BeeConnection, Key City Compost, Seed of Life and Ernst Seed Co. Seeds; and gardening supplies have been donated by Brightview and Ernst Seed Co.
