Sosin Contributor for Ceramic Arts Exhibition

Doris “Dee” Dreller Sosin ’52 is among 19 collectors who have loaned a favorite piece of ceramic art work from their personal collections for the ceramic arts program’s exhibit, “Collectors’ Voices in Ceramic Art: A Leading Edge Exhibition,” featuring historical and contemporary ceramics from around the globe. Sosin loaned an American Southern Jughead by Jerry Brown, ceramic, 1993 and an American Southern Jughead by Albert Hodge, ceramic, c. 1920-1990.

The exhibition will be held in Hood’s Whitaker Campus Center Gallery from March 2 to April 2. An opening reception will take place March 5 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Ceramic arts graduate students have been paired with a collector and have researched the collected ceramic artwork. Students then interviewed the collectors, researching the history of the work and the stories surrounding the collecting.

The project is supported and funded by the Hood College Humanities Council’s 2016-17 NEH Colloquium series, “Narrative at the Edge of the World,” and the ceramic arts graduate program. For more information, contact Jenna Gianni, Hood College gallery director at gianni@hood.edu or 301-696-3285.
