Reunion Weekend 2019

It was a pleasure to have so many Hood alumni back on campus two weeks ago! If you were able to join us, we hope you took this opportunity to relax in the Pergola, relive those Coblentz Dining Hall Days, and enjoyed spending time catching up with your classmates. To help capture these new memories, we invite you to view and print your favorite reunion photos by clicking here.

Furthermore, your feedback is important to us! Please take a few moments to complete a survey about your reunion experience by clicking here! We love to hear what you enjoyed, and are always interested in what we can do to make your next reunion even better!

We know that Hood helped shape who you are today and we want to continue the College’s tradition of excellence in liberal arts education. By you sharing your Hood story with future generations, and referring potential Hood students, the College will continue to thrive and grow. So, if you have a future Hood alum in mind, please send their information to admission@hood.edu and an Admissions Counselor will keep that connection going!

One last thing! There is still time to make your Reunion Class Gift!  Visit http://www.hood.edu/gifts/ by June 30 to be counted in your class totals!

Reunion 2020 is scheduled for June 5-7. All alumni are invited to attend, and the classes with years ending in a zero or a five from 1930 to 2015 will share in the special celebration along with the 50th reunion class of 1970. Hope to see you next June!

Fiscal Year End – Be Counted!

Tuition alone does not cover the cost of a Hood College education. Every student at Hood benefits from a “silent scholarship” – providing an experience that would not be possible without support from alumni and friends.

When you give to Hood:
You Invest in students with great potential…people like you.

You Impact with a ripple effect…because students will eventually impact many others.

You Inspire today’s students to aim higher.

Make your gift to the Hood Fund before June 30, the end of the fiscal year, to be counted in your class totals. For questions or more information, please contact Brooke Winn, director of annual giving, at winn@hood.edu or 301-696-3717.

Memorial Service for Betsy McCain McAlpine ’51, H’17

Betsy McCain McAlpine, granddaughter of Hood’s founder, President Joseph Henry Apple, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2019.

Two years ago at Commencement, Betsy was awarded an honorary degree for her immeasurable support and dedication to the College. Beyond her student days, where she was a student-athlete and a White Blazer Award winner, Betsy worked in the admission office, and was an Alumnae Association officer, a reunion class chair and class reporter, chair of the Centennial Celebration, and the original docent in the Hood History Museum. Betsy also served on the Board of Trustees and was named trustee emerita.

Betsy was a loyal friend to the College and will be greatly missed. To honor her memory, and all Betsy did in support of Hood, a memorial service will be held on-campus in Coffman Chapel on Tuesday, June 25 at 11 a.m. (Hood College, 401 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick MD 21701, no RSVP necessary.)
